Forbid upload of files that are already existing

Hello,

on our website the registered users are allowed to upload files to their own home-folder but they are not allowed to delete them.

we managed this by removing the delete button via CSS, dont know if there is a better way but it works so far.

A Problem that we face now is that if a user uploads a file with the same name of a file that is already existing in his folder, he is able to sucessfully replace the old file with the new one.

This behaviour is not desired because it can be abused to delete files simply by overwriting them with garbage.

Is there a switch in Fileman that can be used to disallow overwriting?

thank you, B.R. Jan

Hello Jan,

The delete renders if the user has delete permissions. If the user don't, then the button won't render. No need for a CSS hack for not rendering it.

Regarding the existing files issue, users are prompted when uploading a file with the same filename. The user is given the choice to either replace the file or rename it.

I hope this helps.
