Hi where do I get the capability to be informed of document downloads?

Hello Crawford, DOCman Notify is a plugin that sends notification emails to document and category owners about changes in those documents and categories that they manage. It doesn't send notification for downloads.
If you wish to be notified on document downloads you need to install LOGman and enable the LOGman email notifications plugin. This plugin will send out email notification for events including DOCman download events.
