User manual - FILEMAN
Hello,
I just bought FILEMAN, but I don’t know how to use it. I looked everywhere for a documentation, but I have not found one. There is a documentation how to install it, but if you have installed it, than what? Where is the rest of the documentation? Are you kidding me? I just have bought an extension for 36 Euros and I can’t use it?

Answer
Hello Thomas, great to hear you have been able to manage to get FILEman working for you. About your additional questions, happy to explain further.
1. Direct linking
FILEman hides the physical URL of the file. Lets take our Example.jpg as an example.
Link in FILEman : https://demo.joomlatools.com/joomla3/fileman/table/file/example-jpg%252Ejpg
Actual file location : http://demo.joomlatools.com/joomla3/images/filetypes/example-jpg.jpg
FILEman doesn't show the second location which is the actual physical path to the file. Since this file is in the Joomla images folder it can still be accessed directly, but you need to know the path.
Direct access can be further limited by adding an additional htaccess file, if required. DOCman does this out of the box and doesn't allow direct access under any circomstances.
2. Google Analytics
FILEman has built-in support for Google Analytics. If Google Analytics is enabled for your site your downloads will be tracked in Google Analytics in the the Events section. Here you can track how many times a document was downloaded. Google Analytics can track downloads by anonymous users with detailed reports.
To make this work, all you need to do is add a Google Anamytics plugin and insert your analytic code. FILEman will automatically detect Google Analytics is active. No additional steps are required.
Does that help you ?
