Once document with multiple files/documents

We work with a lot of city and county governments where we use Docman to manage all their documents.

Meeting agendas are their biggest challenge. An agenda is typically a 3-6 page PDF. In the agenda it references other documents (called attachments). These attachments would be various reports, petitions, approved minutes etc. Some of the attachments are very large. The key point here is that when someone wants to download an agenda they also need to be able to download all or some of the referenced attachments.

I would love to be able to create a document (like normal) but also include extra supporting documents available to download.

So in the Docman Document details page you would have:

The Main Document to download
- supporting document 1 to download
- supporting document 3 to download
- supporting document 4 to download
- supporting document 5 to download
- download all documents

This would be a great addition and really streamline complex document management for government and committee based organizations.

Hello Brandon,

Just a quick message to let you know that FILEman 3.0 beta2 has just been released.

This version includes attachments support for DOCman. This means that you may now attach more than one file to a document by using the Attachments editor button. These files will be made available and downloadable in the document view.

For attachming files:

  1. Edit a document.
  2. Click on the Attachments editor button located in the description editor.
  3. Attach as many files as you want.
  4. Save the document if it's new, otherwise you may just click on close.

Please do not hesitate to download it and give it a try. At the moment this feature may only be tested with DOCman 3.0 beta. The FILEman 3.0 beta package needs to be installed after DOCman is installed.

Looking forward to your feedback.

Thank you.
